Golf Laser Range Finders? There are so many to choose from on both
counts. My suggestion to you is to research what it is you want to
achieve and to discover what information you require to best suit your
game. It is well documented that the professional golfers and their
caddies use both Golf GPS and Laser Range Finders. Obviously this is not
allowed in Tournament Golf, but there is nothing stopping them from
going out on their tournament course prior to the actual tournament, and
they do. This is how the caddies gain so much information about the
course in such a short time.
However we, as your everyday layman golfer, are allowed to use a certain amount of assistance depending on the local course rules. The actual Rules set down by the USGA and the LUSGA as well as the R&A. States that you can use a device for measuring distance only at the discretion of your local club. I can tell you if you want to improve your game to such a level that you are difficult to beat, or you want to improve to such a level that you are able to play in your local competitions you are going to come up against a stricter observance of the rules of golf.
For instance, if the device you are using can do more than read distances then you are not allowed to use it, even if you had no intention of using your GPS or Laser Range Finder for anything other than distance, the fact that it is capable of more means you cannot use it at all. This is for competition only rules. Of course you can use them if you are out for a game of golf with your friends, no problem.
The best thing you can do if you intend to improve enough to play in your local competitions, is to do as the professional caddies do, go round the course prior to your game, get all the information you can with the use of a Laser Range Finder or a GPS device. Log your information down in a little pocket book; you've seen the Pro's doing it why not you.
If you have downloaded the course you are about to play on a Golf GPS device. this can give you information about hidden hazards that only the locals know about, as well as distances to the green. Some can even show you the shape of the course slopes and all.
The Laser Range Finders will calculate distances to any target you point the unit at very accurately. You can also use them as binoculars to see where your ball has landed so that by the time your reach your ball position you have a good idea as to what your next shot is going to be.
